Israeli airstrikes pounding Gaza are deepening the humanitarian crisis in an area that was already in deep distress, according to a United Nations aid official.

"The situation is absolutely disastrous," U.N. official Christopher Gunness told CNN on Sunday, as a second day of aerial attacks brought the death toll in Gaza close to 300. Hundreds more people have been injured.
Israel has said the airstrikes are a necessary self-defense measure after repeated rocket attacks from Gaza into southern Israel by Hamas militants. Israeli leaders say they are trying to minimize civilian casualties in Gaza.

  2. They are all liars, they blame Israel for the humanitarian situation when they should blame Hamas. way didn’t they bring into Gaza tons of food instead of tons of weapons ???
Hamas used the quiet from Israel to re stock there weapons. They shoot rockets at Israeli citys without provocation and without reaction from the IDF.
The minute that Israel reacted, they started crying “Humanitarian disaster…”.
    They are T E R O R I S T S ! no more and no less.
They don’t talk about the money that Israel transferred directly into Gaza banks.
They don’t talk about the food that is transferred into Gaza all this time, even now.

  4. It’s about time that the palestinians will look for their life and start taking care of their children and future. 60 years they play the victims and fool the world with their misery. They tight each other with stong ropes of islamic extreme and can do nothing with themselves. After bombing Israeli cities for almost 8 years (80 rockets on a daily base in the last few days) its about time that Israeli government will do something to respond. As always, They act like “bandits” but when they get hit they start to cry and moan, how they are miserable.

I have no mercy for them.

    Thats all folks

  6. The Israeli’s are giving out false information!! The aid is less than what they are saying. They are closing borders and not allowing for medical supplies to reach the people of Gaza. Ramming the Dignity and not allowing for aid to reach the strip is not peaceful!
They also claim radio announcments were made to tell the people of Gaza to leave before the attacks started. THIS IS FALSE! And even if they did where do they expect 1.5 million people to go if they are closing all borders????
Using U.S. supplied F-16 jet fighters, Apache attack helicopters, and other U.S. supplied weapons, the Israeli occupation forces bombarded densely populated civilian centers in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 380 and injuring over 1700, many critically. The casualties are unarmed women, children and other civilians, not militants. In what dictionary are graduates at their ceremony militants? How are patients staying in a hospital wing that was hit saturday militants?
I am outraged at U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives and the Bush Administration for allowing, without condemnation, Israel’s flagrant military aggression on unarmed Palestinian civilians. The mass murder of unarmed civilians not only violates all American values but is also in violation of humanitarian law.
These actions of Israel have flagrantly ignored international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949. Article 33 of the convention specifically prohibits this type of collective punishment by stating that no person “be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed”. In addition the Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits the disproportionate use of force; however, this assault is not less than disproportionate.
The American government needs to condemn Israeli’s terrorist actions. They need to pressure Israel to halt all military operations in Gaza and to immedietly end the siege by opening borders, allowing for food and medical supplies to enter the region.
The United States should demand that Israel’s current aggression in Gaza with its indiscriminate bombings and border closings be stopped. These actions can only be characterized as collective punishment as 1.5 million people are suffering from this onslaught. Clearly, 1.5 million people are not guilty of committing “offences”.
It is time for our government and all other world leaders to stand up for justice and equality rather than special interests.
