Report: Road projects could spur 1.8 million jobs
America’s roads and bridges need critical repairs that would total $64 billion, and construction could begin within six months if the federal government makes the funds available, according to a new report.

The report, by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, surveyed all 50 states and found 5,148 road and bridge projects that are considered "ready to go."
"As Congress and the president-elect look at the issue of, can infrastructure play a major role in economy recovery, the first question they ask is, ‘Can you deliver projects — shovels in the ground — quickly?’ And what we’ve documented through the survey we’ve just completed is that yes indeed, we can," John Horsley, executive director of the American Association of State, Highway and Transportation Officials, told CNN.

This Question Is For My Road Warriors Who Found Jobs That Don’t Require Travel.?

This question is for my road warriors who found jobs that don’t require travel. I’ve been traveling for the past 5 years both domestically and globally. My question is I’m trying to come off the road, I have been applying for local jobs here in Atlanta but the only feedback I get is from employers that require travel. Where can I or How do I locate the companies that will not require travel?? Currently I work for a consultant firm in Atlanta as a project manager. When companies see the buzz words consultant or project manager I think they equate that to travel. I love what I do; I just want to do it locally for a while. I have contacted recruiters (most of whom are jokes!) and the common job boards but with no luck. I even thought of a career change but I have no idea what would be a smooth transition. Your thoughts???
